A little history of Hurtado y Uria Joyeros...
Hurtado y Uria Joyeros was born on November 12, 1978
After 10 years of experience as a clerk in a jewelry store, Maridel Uria took over the store and, together with Sebastián Hurtado, founded Hurtado y Uria Joyeros in one of the main streets of Bilbao, Calle Autonomía.
In 1995 they change to another larger store, in Autonomia 76, where they open the roller shutter every day for more than 30 years.
Sebastián and Maridel see how fashions change, but they always expand the assortment adapting to the latest trends.
They also see how the neighborhood businesses lowered their roller shutter in the 2009 crisis and in recent years, but they are still afloat.
Even for 10 years, they have a second store in the center of Bilbao, next to the main El Corte Inglés in the city.
In 2010 the online store opens
With the help of her daughter Marta they open the online store when many businesses still do not have a website.
They are pioneers in the online sale of jewelry and watches.
They send jewelry and watches to more than 20 countries in the world such as England, France, Germany, Holland, Australia, the United States, Mexico, Peru...
Many of these shipments are to Basque emigrants who find in our online store earrings, pendants and bracelets with Basque motifs such as the Eguzkilore or the Lauburu.
The photo is from the first website, opened in 2010 and designed with HTML code, after which there will have been about 10 versions up to the current one. What a journey!
In September 2021 the roller shutter is lowered for the last time
After more than 40 years of experience in the physical store, countless clients between the physical and online stores and more than 30 jewelry and watch suppliers, in September 2021, Sebas and Maridel lower the roller shutter of Hurtado y Uria Joyeros en la Calle Autonomia 76 of Bilbao for the last time and... they get retired!
And you'll say... great! Now what?
Well now the physical store is closed and I, his daughter Marta, manage the online store.
As times have changed, the items in the store have also changed a bit and although gold and brilliant jewelery was also offered before, now you will only find silver jewelery and watches.
Spring 2022: new website
A new bloom has come to Hurtado and Uria Joyeros.
The previous website had become outdated to new online trends. After a complete reorganization of categories and various technical issues, the new website has seen the light.
It is a more comfortable website so that you do not go crazy searching, more visually attractive so that you delight in gossiping, better organized so that you can quickly find what you are looking for and correctly adapted to the mobile version, so that you can consult it from wherever you want!
